We're Here!

We made it. We're here. We are no longer Boise bound - we are Boise residents! The journey here was long, exhausting, and beautiful. Well - mostly. Some states left us underwhelmed...Ohio...Illinois....but the beauty and landscapes of the other states made up for those that seemed to lack. We've been getting settled into our house, working on making it our home, and exploring our new surroundings! So many great things to do right around us! We look forward to sharing the beauty of Idaho with you and keeping you posted on how the Boise life is going!

Here is a little peak into our journey here:

Day one

Said goodbye to Frederick and our wonderful little house. We put a lot of work into it. We'll remember it fondly - most of it. ;-)

What better way to start your drive than snow in Pennsylvania!? In the end of April....

Ohio......meh.........

We stayed the night in South Bend, Indiana.  This is as close a shot as we got to Notre Dame in the morning - we were ready to get on the road again, especially since the dog chewed through TWO seat belts in the Honda while we were having breakfast and the cat had tipped her litter box in her carrier not even two minutes into the drive.

Day Two

Apparently I was so underwhelmed with Illinois I didn't even take any pictures.  Whoops.

Next up was Iowa. Lots of windmills! Kept little lady very entertained! "Where'd fan go?" "I don't know, look around and see if you can find another one!"

Mid grade lower than regular, you don't see that everywhere!  Something about Iowa being corn country and ethanol, so on and so on.

World's largest truck stop?!?  Of COURSE we had to stop!

Little lady enjoyed a break, and what appeared to be a delish hamburger, at the WORLDS Largest Truck Stop!!!  Go Iowa!

Next stop - Nebraska! Omaha, specifically. Spent the night and got to visit with God Daddy!

Can't you just feel the love?

Day three:

We hung out in Omaha for a little bit to refresh and have lunch with little lady's God father, so we only made it to Wyoming (Nebraska is pretty long) and stayed the night in Cheyenne, I think....it is getting a bit blurry....

Day Four:

Big push day - decided to see if we could make it to Boise!

Fueling up!  Something we seemed to do over, and over, and over.  And then over again.

Wyoming is beautiful.  Started to see the Rockies!  Excitement starts to set in.

Very neat landscape in Wyoming - best yet on the drive.  But wait......

Then we entered Utah.  Oh.My.Goodness.  Such a gorgeous state.  Maybe they have you enter it where you do because it is breathtakingly beautiful at that point.  We had to pull over and reroute because I missed our exit I was so busy enjoying the views.

Couldn't get the best pictures, but trust me, it is awesome.

Imagine seeing that as you drive on the highway.

And then we hit rain.  And WIND.  Serious rain and wind.  We pulled into a gas station to refuel and for my stomach muscles to relax for a bit.  I started to worry.  Geez, is this what rain is like out here?  Is the wind like this all the time?  As soon as we finished fueling the gas station lost power.  That actually comforted me - if they lost power than the storms couldn't be like this all the time, right?  We were almost into Idaho, so we decided to push on.  Also, out here, the big cities are few and far between, so we had to get to Idaho anyways to find somewhere to stay!

We got just into Idaho, about 2 hours out from Boise and I decided we needed to stop.  It had been a long day of driving and we were almost there!  But pregnant lady needed to sleep.

Day Five:

It was nice to wake up knowing we were almost there.  We figured we would aim to get to Boise by noon so Chris could get his stuff done that he needed to do for his new job and we could then work on getting settled in.

First view in daylight.  We got in at night.

Welcome to Idaho, Mika!

Just a sample of the scenery in Idaho.  Lots more to come. ;-)

We made it!

They were exhausted from our trip!

So here we are.  The adventures have already begun!  Of course, driving cross country with a kiddo, dog, cat and pregnant woman was already an adventure.  It was also beautiful and really showed us how diverse and pretty our country is.  If you ever get a chance, I really recommend driving cross country some time in your life.  It will help you appreciate what we've got, right here in our own backyards, even more.
