Trucking along

These are our children.

This is my husband as a baby.

Ridiculous.

Perhaps one day we will have a child that looks something like me.  I'm being told that now that Little Lady is getting older she is taking more after me.

It has been a tough couple weeks for us.  Little Lady has trouble with the changes when Papa stops and starts classes.  Throw the teething on top of it and you'll end up getting pictures of a breakdown, instead of your intended pictures of a self proclaimed "princess" in an old family heirloom type of dress.

See?  Total break down.  It has left me in a funk as well.  I recognize when I'm in one and that I need to pull myself out of it.  So - when I get like that I do what any normal person would do and decide to put more on my plate.  Don't ask - for some reason it seems to work for me.  SO, I have started doing a home school preschool each week with other children.  You can visit my other blog, craftymamak.blogspot.com, for details on what we've been doing with that.  I've also started doing CrossFit to see how badly I can break myself - I mean, to get in shape.  Let's just say I can feel it.  I didn't do it today (at 5 am, blahhhh) because I tweaked my back a little doing dead lifts yesterday, but I'm regretting not going today - so that is a good thing.  Just have to remember I'm not a spring chicken anymore.  It is also a lifesaver to get out of the house by myself.  I literally have NO BREAK all day long - especially when Chris has class.  The kids do not nap at the same time - if at all.  As I'm typing this, Little Lady is leaning on my shoulder playing with my phone (I'll have interesting pictures to look at later) and Little Man is rolling around next to me babbling.  It can be a little smothering sometimes.

Little Man seems to be getting ready for drinking and eating now.

He seriously attacks cups.  We've let him sip some water from our cups now.

It is debatable how much actually gets in and stays in, but he seems to know exactly what to do with it.  He will be 5 months tomorrow.  Chris has let him have a nibble of avocado and he sucked on my banana the other day.  We'll probably just kind of follow the route of letting him sample our things as he shows interest.  He is still waking every two hours several nights, with the occasional 5 hour stretch, and will not take a pacifier OR a bottle now.  Awesomeness.

We are still doing the paleo thing.  We've each lost about 20 lbs. and are eating delicious foods.

Eggs, spinach, tomatoes and kiwi.

Apple, almond and raisin salad.

A yummy Superbowl spread of meatballs and guacamole with veggies.

Paleo "tortilla" (don't bother, not very good) with eggs, apples, bacon, avocado and onions.  Mmmmmm.

I've also given up sweets for lent (yes, you can make paleo sweets).  Have I mentioned I put allot on my plate to get out of funks?  Anyone that says giving up sweets isn't a big idea is a) not a woman and b) doesn't have any children.

None of this for 40 days...

Or this.  Okay, the picture doesn't look that good, but it is yummy.

I also made my very first dress.  Won't be my last.

Little Man sits up on his own now - meaning unsupported.  He doesn't get up there on his own yet.

This makes him a bit more interesting to Little Lady.

Valentine's Day was a simple, low key day.  Started out with a yummy heart shaped breakfast.

Little Lady got some cards and has officially noticed money.  She counted it and said "One for you, one for Papa and one for Coquette!" - so generous!  She then had to take it everywhere with her, even the potty.

Little Man enjoyed his cards too.

I had some cider and chocolate covered kiwi waiting for Papa when he got out of class.  No sweets for me.....

She is getting really good at puzzles, does this all by herself.

He enjoys looking out the window - provides temporary amusement.

You also have to keep an eye out for him.  If you leave the room for a second, he might disappear under the bed or something.

We had a spurt of warm weather this past weekend and got some outside time.  That always helps.

It is good to get family outings in.  We're all in this together and we need to remember to have fun together too.

She is totally ready for spring!

It was a good outing to the river for all of us.

Of course, it's all fun and games 'till someone falls in the river.  "I SOAKED!!!"  Really not sure how she got her head in there - it was only a couple inches.....

We wrapped up the warm weather by breaking in the new (used) bike trailer.

We've been having lots of tea parties - in the hat she got from Papa for Valentine's day and the dress I made her.

Also enjoying the lavender filled "tea bag" I made for her tea parties.  Might have to fine tune these and sell them on etsy....

I don't think I would call Little Man's eyes blue anymore, but I'm not sure what I would call them.  They are almost grey.  But they have some hazel right in the center.  Are they turning brown?  Are they turning green?  Only time will tell.

Until then, we'll keep trucking along.  With work, school, play dates, activities and life - we've got plenty to fill our time with.

Things that make you go Awwwwwwwwww

We've been busy.  Chris is back in school, the kiddos have each had a nasty cold and I'm exhausted.  Little Lady seems to have a tough time adjusting at the beginning and end of each semester, then throw teething and a cold on top of it and we've got a barrel of fun here.  I had to wear Little Man in a carrier literally ALL DAY for at least half of the past two weeks while he has been sick.  This week I have finally been able to put him down and he seems to be feeling better and no longer waking 3-4 times a night.  Did I mention I'm exhausted?  Well, things seem to finally be improving slightly, so I figured I'd do a quick update with some cute pics and stuff to make you say awwwwwwwwww.

The kids have started a band.

Little Man is on the keyboard.  His sister takes care of guitar and vocals.

He is a serious mover.  He was by the mirror on the blanket a couple seconds earlier.  He is scooting himself everywhere.

He is GROOOOOOOWING!  He had his four month appt and is 26.75 inches and about 16 lbs.

This has been his spot for the past two weeks.

They seem to be getting along well.

She likes to be either a princess or fairy.

Growing soooooooo fast.

The temps have gotten into the 40's, so we've gotten some nice walks in.

She has needed the outside time too.

It helps perk him up, even with a crusty nose.

Check out those cheeks - her molars are coming in.

We enjoyed some paleo crepes for the 2/2 French Holiday.  Don't bother with the paleo version, really.

Big, strong men.

Enjoying some paleo cookies.

Enjoying puppy time.  Did I mention she stole a brand new pack of expensive nitrate free yummy bacon off the counter this morning and ate it all?  And that she has decided to start blowing her coat? And that it was a brand new pack of expensive bacon?  The joys of owning a dog.....

She likes to read to him.

He wanted to get some band practice in.

Since she wasn't joining him, he decided to try his hand at this.

Like I said, a quick update - it is almost midnight and I now hear Little Man crying in his room.  ***sigh***

That's all folks.
