The Boise Life: Chapter 2

I totally got that post title from Laura, but it seemed fitting.  New house, new chapter in this story.  The kids have taken wonderfully to it.  Little Lady LOVES her room.  She picked the one with two blue accent walls.  She no longer has a gate on her door and she has done great with that new "freedom".  I love having all of us on the same level.  Makes those night time wake ups sooooooooo much easier.  And those wake ups have still been happening 3-4 times a night - 'till this week, but I'll get more into that later.

Little Man immediately started crawling up the stairs once we moved in.  It is kind of a split level on the first floor with four steps to the living room.  We've got gates on the long flight going upstairs, but this set doesn't really work for a gate.

He then immediately tried going back down them.  I've been working on helping him figure out how to go down backwards.  He seems to have mastered the going back down part this week (so, took about a month) but there have certainly been a couple (several) tumbles down during the learning process.

This little guy's hair has really started coming back in too.  Looking kinda blondish?

Remember all that dark hair he had a birth?!

The weekend we moved was a crazy busy one.  I ended up being solo that day, with two movers.  Chris ended up having to stay the whole day at work.  That was fun.
The next day was a Cinco de Mayo, on the quatro, party at my CrossFit gym.  I got a babysitter so Chris could come workout with me.  Of course he had to work out wearing khaki shorts because all his workout clothes were packed away.

Many of us brought family members - kids and everything.  In hindsight I wish I just had the baby sitter meet us there and watch them during the workout - eh, 20/20.

Our workout consisted of tire flips - flip it, then jump in, then jump out, run around, do it again. (The big tire is a two man flip)

Then box jumps.  I modify these (step ups rather than jumping).  I can do a couple regular, but then my legs start getting tired and I fall.  Very graceful.  Chris was crazy on these.  He can do competition height, no problem.  White boy has ups.

Then toe-2-bars and then burpees.  A couple rounds for time, don't remember specifics.  Chris did well, it was good for him to see what it is.  I think he would love it, he thinks he would too, but he honestly has NO time in his schedule to do this.  This man is working harder than he has ever worked in his life.  He is awesome and amazing.

Then it was time for a cookout.  Where else are you going to go to a picnic and have an awesome paleo spread?!  Sweetness.

I also got to try elk for the first time.  Pretty good.  Maybe we'll be lucky enough to get some of our own some day.

It was good for us to get out and do something together, just the two of us.  Especially during the stress of a move.

I couldn't help myself.  This little man is ahead of the game.

We've been spending time getting settled in.  Doing lots of twirls in pretty birthday skirts.
I totally still have to do the thank you notes for her presents.  I'm getting there.  I promise.  Life has been super busy.  We really need to stop moving around her birthday.....

This guy is keeping me on my toes.  Gets into e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.

Of course he sees this as a challenge.

This one is growing up quickly.  She is looking so much older lately.  Really turning into a young lady.

She has tea in the mornings.  Picks her own kind and cup.  She usually does a mug but wanted them to match on this day.  Of course, she gets a nice dose of honey in it.

The playgroup for church did a visit to the botanical gardens the first week of our move.

It was a free admission day so we had fun there during the day and then went back at night for a picnic with Papa.

They've made lots of additions since we went last year, but still have the goodies they had before.

Last year.

This year.
Oh yeah, Chris has a beard now.  It's not like he can change his hair style, so he is playing around with his face. :)  He is debating on whether he keeps it or not.  I just told him to have fun.

A neat way to do raised garden beds.

Just like last year.

Then there were two.

Wonder if he'll be willing to sit still for a picture next year!

He has REALLY gotten into eating lately.  Blackberries are so joyful.

He has also started meat.

Mika is also loving the new house.  This front window is a fave of hers.  When you're outside it totally looks like a wolf is looking out.  Good home defense system.

For Mother's Day (yay, it was on a different day than Chris' birthday this year!) we went to a park on the river by our house.  Just nice, simple fun.

It was a gorgeous day, although the water was freezing.  To be expected.

He got to play around with some sand....and eat some too.

Papa took turns watching him....

so I could get some one on one time with Little Lady.

My original monkey.

Happy Mama.

Little Lady likes to visit the river often now to go "bare footing".

And, of course, we make sure we are covered up from the sun.

Next up I'll share Chris' birthday fun and some of the outdoor stuff we've been doing.
Ta Ta for now.
