Our first Christmas as four.

This was our first Christmas in Boise, our first Christmas with Canyon, and our first Christmas not seeing any family.  Lots of firsts!  We went to the children's Christmas Eve mass at church.  I asked around and THAT was the one to go to - apparently the Christmas day mass is empty.  Thankfully I also listened to the advice to get there almost a half hour early, rather than our usual 5-10 min late.  We were able to find seats in our usual area and we enjoyed the children's choir.  Then we headed home, had dinner, and got ready for Santa!

We left out egg nog and rugelach for Santa and carrots for the reindeer.

Little Lady was ready for bed with her pj pants that I made for her!

That night, Santa came!

He stuffed the stockings and left the kids a bike trailer/jogging stroller!  This spring we can all go riding together as a family!  Yay, deals on Craigslist!  He also left a letter telling us to enjoy a day of sledding at Bogus Basin, his treat!

Christmas morning at our house.  Mika got in on the fun too.

Someone is ready for a ride!  (as soon as she puts her helmet on, safety first!)

Canyon checked out his goodies too.  Books!

Next up was unwrapping the gifts our generous friends and family sent us!

She is really into playing games with people right now, so we got her Candy Land.  We've played it already, but I think she is more into the IDEA of playing the game than actually playing it.  I must admit, it seemed much longer and more boring than it was when I was a kid.....

He took a mid-unwrapping nap in his cute slippers from Aunt Kathleen!

She is totally into this hat from Grandma Gigi and Grandpa Ted.

He used the rings I sewed for him - yay!

She really digs this toy from Grandpa Brian and family.  She has been practicing her skills.....

He got his own special blanket from Grandma Gigi and Grandpa Ted, to match the one Little Lady got when she was a baby.

They took a break to check out the books Little Man got.

After shoving a quick breakfast in our mouths, Little Lady having a full temper tantrum, coming out to find our windshield cracked halfway across and being 45 minutes past schedule - we arrived at Bogus Basin for tubing.  Of course, we had an appointment for the tubing, so we only had 1hr 15 minutes left in our slot.

Of course, it didn't matter that we were late because she wouldn't go down anyways.  I can't blame the girl, it was super windy and the snow was pelting her face.  There were so many times it looked like she was going to do it, but it just didn't work out. So we trekked over towards the ski slopes and she played in the snow with Papa while I nursed Canyon in the car.  Fun times.  I then joined them and we had a bite to eat in the lodge.  After watching everyone by the slopes, she has declared that she wants to ski.  She has to be three to be able to take lessons there, so we'll probably do it next year.

The sunglasses just weren't enough.  I'll have to look into making her a little face mask of sorts - and we should probably find her some kids ski goggles if we are going to try it again.

She still got her fun in the snow and passed out on the way home.  That evening we went to Chris' coworkers house for a game night.  The same coworker we toured the Mormon temple with.  It was a really nice evening.  Little Lady had a BLAST with all the kids.  She was the youngest (besides Little Man) by several years, but all the kids had such a genuinely fun time playing with her.  There were a couple other families there too and the older kids and adults played games - guys against girls.  I think the games were pulled from Minute to Win it?  Something like that.  It was just nice, good family fun.  A nice way to relax after a day that was much more stressful than planned.  We also got our White Christmas.  Aside from the snow at Bogus - which doesn't really count since it is up on the mountain - it started snowing that evening.  It made the drive to our friends house a bit rough, but people around here drive appropriately for it.  It continued that night and also snowed the next day.

I helped (okay, I did the whole thing) Little Lady build her first snow man.

She was pretty pleased. :-)

How was your Christmas?
